You are here: Home > Necessities for Newborns
What you REALLY need during the 1st year of your child’s life. When you have your shower, you’ll undoubtedly get four dozen blankets & tons of clothing that little Sammy or Sally will grow out of almost immediately. Thanks to our panel of mom experts, here’s a list of what you shouldn’t be without.

Newborn-3 months:

1. onesies with mittens (so baby won’t scratch himself)

2. diapers, diapers, and more diapers

3. swaddling blankets (your baby likes to be cuddled up like a mummy)

4. an easy-access changing station

5. burp cloths—the cloth diaper types are best & most absorbent

6. a one-stop diaper bag filled with diapers, wipes, and two extra outfits

7. a co-sleeper or bassinet

8. extra sheets for the crib or bassinet placed close-by for those midnight explosions

9. pacifiers

10. a glider chair WITH an ottoman (or at least a dog who will let you put your feet on his back)

11. a hygiene/medical kit—baby brush, nail clippers, diaper cream (we like Desitin) thermometer, baby shampoo, baby wash cloths & tub to clean baby in

12. a BOPPY-- the strange pillow object that is good for almost everything
